Hometown Realty of San Elijo Hills, with the help of the Del Sol chapter of National Charity League, Inc. (NCL Del Sol), kicked off their annual canned food drive on Saturday, the 5th of December to benefit Interfaith Community Services (ICS). Mary Maloney, Founder & Owner of Hometown Realty and also a member of NCL Del Sol stated, "My daughter and I have enjoyed being members of NCL Del Sol and getting to know Interfaith and the amazing job they do in our community. We thought our annual food drive would be a natural collaboration and are thrilled with the results for Interfaith."
The realtors from Hometown Realty, along with the moms and daughters from NCL, drove through the neighborhoods of San Elijo Hills picking up bags of food that the residents had left outside their front doors. "Every time we saw the brown bag outside someone's door, it felt like a small victory for a family in need," stated Molly Gumner from NCL. As each truck or SUV unloaded bags, the enthusiasm grew. The girls from NCL busily sorted the food, repacked it and labeled each grocery bag. By the end of the morning the parking lot was overflowing with brown bags. A total of 10,042 items were collected. Jerry Morgan from ICS said it was the largest food donation that he had seen. The girls and moms helped fill the delivery truck to full capacity.
